Enhancing Life Through Unique Equine-Assisted Experiences

Our services meet the particular needs of low-income individuals referred to us by local city and county agencies. Vulnerable youth populations are an emphasis at Medicine Horse Program.
Medicine Horse Program thrives with the help of a dedicated staff, board of directors and numerous enthusiastic volunteers. Find out more about the people who help make this program a success by visiting our Staff and Board of Directors and Advisory Board pages.
Why Horses?
The horse is an intuitive, honest and responsive being. Through interaction with the horse, humans can gain awareness about how we relate to ourselves and others in our lives.
Horses live in herds closely resembling human groups such as the family system.
Relationship with other herd members determines the individuals' survival as well as their role within the herd. |
Horses, as prey animals, live in the here and now in order to survive. They can teach the importance of awareness.
Horses have unique personalities eliciting different behaviors and emotions in different people. |
